Vega of Granada

The Vega of Granada is the fertile plain around the city of Granada in Andalusia, Spain, watered by the Genil river and its tributaries. Under the Nasrid emirs its dense network of irrigation channels supported cereals, fruit, vegetables and mulberry trees for silk, feeding the capital. During the Granada War Castilian armies repeatedly ravaged it to weaken the city.
