Vega Real
The Vega Real, 'royal plain', is a fertile valley in the north-central Dominican Republic, the eastern part of the Cibao valley drained by the Yuna River. Named by Columbus, it was the land of the Taíno chiefdom of Maguá and the scene of early Spanish gold mining and settlement at Concepción de la Vega. It remains a major farming region.
