Institution

Madrasa

A madrasa is an Islamic institution of higher learning, typically teaching law, theology and related sciences. The Seljuk Empire, notably under the vizier Nizam al-Mulk, founded influential madrasas to train scholars and officials and promote Sunni orthodoxy. The Ayyubid Empire continued this policy in Egypt and Syria.
