Nizam al-Mulk

vizier 1064–1092; assassinated 1092 · 11th century

Nizam al-Mulk was a Persian statesman who served as vizier of the Seljuk Empire from 1064 until his assassination in 1092. He fused Persian bureaucratic tradition with Turkic military rule, founded the Nizamiyya network of madrasas and wrote the Siyasat-nama, a treatise on government. His death removed a central figure of Seljuk administration.
