Veluvana

Also known as Venuvana

Veluvana, the Bamboo Grove, was a park outside Rajagriha, the capital of Magadha, which King Bimbisara gave to the Buddha and his order of monks. It is remembered as the first monastery donated to the Buddhist sangha, and the Buddha spent several rainy seasons there. The site, in present-day Rajgir in Bihar, is still visited by pilgrims.
