Magadha

Magadha was an ancient kingdom in the eastern Ganges plain, in present-day Bihar, with its capital at Pataliputra. It was the power base from which the Maurya Empire expanded across most of the Indian subcontinent. Centuries later it was again the core region of the Gupta Empire.
