Indian subcontinent
The Indian subcontinent is the large region of South Asia comprising present-day India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and neighbouring lands. It has been home to empires such as the Maurya Empire and the Delhi Sultanate. Its trade and wealth linked it to powers including the Abbasid Caliphate and the Srivijaya Empire, while the Umayyad Caliphate extended its conquests into Sind.
