Vukanović dynasty

The Vukanović dynasty ruled the Serbian principality of Raška from the late eleventh century until 1166, taking its name from Grand Župan Vukan. Its rulers, based at Ras, shifted between Byzantine and Hungarian alliances and often fought among themselves. The Nemanjić dynasty, which ruled Serbia from 1166, descended from a branch of the family.
