Vulca

late 6th century BCE · 6th century BCE

Vulca was an Etruscan sculptor of Veii, the only Etruscan artist named in Roman literature. Pliny the Elder records that Tarquinius Priscus summoned him to Rome to make the terracotta cult statue of Jupiter for the temple on the Capitol. Modern scholars often attribute to his workshop the terracotta statues of the Portonaccio temple at Veii, including the Apollo of Veii.
