Capitoline Hill
The Capitoline Hill is one of the seven hills of Rome, overlooking the Forum. It held the city's chief temple, that of Jupiter Optimus Maximus, traditionally begun under the Tarquin kings and dedicated in 509 BCE, and served as Rome's religious and symbolic centre, where generals ended their triumphs. Michelangelo later redesigned its piazza, the Campidoglio.
