Nisibis

Nisibis was a fortress city in upper Mesopotamia, near modern Nusaybin in south-eastern Turkey, long contested between Rome and Persia. Rome gained it under the treaty of 299 CE. Shapur II of the Sasanian Empire recovered Nisibis and other eastern territories in the peace of 363 CE.
