Person
Waiofar
Waiofar was Duke of Aquitaine from 745 to 768, the son of Hunald and grandson of Odo the Great. He defended his duchy's independence against the Carolingian king Pippin the Short, who from 760 led almost yearly campaigns into Aquitaine. Hunted down and murdered in 768, he was the last of the independent dukes, and Aquitaine was then annexed to the Frankish kingdom.
