Wat Phra Si Sanphet was the royal temple within the palace grounds of Ayutthaya, used for royal ceremonies and without resident monks. Founded in the fifteenth century, it is known for three great bell-shaped chedis that held the ashes of kings. It was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767 and is now part of the Historic City of Ayutthaya World Heritage Site.
