Wu Guang

d. 208 BCE · 3rd century BCE

Wu Guang was, with Chen Sheng, a leader of the Dazexiang uprising of 209 BCE, the first great peasant rising in Chinese history. Conscripts held up by rain and facing death for lateness, they rebelled and founded the Zhangchu regime, which set the Qin empire ablaze; Wu Guang was killed by his own officers the next year.
