Yuan Shu

d. 199 · 2nd century

Yuan Shu was a Chinese warlord of the late Eastern Han dynasty and cousin of Yuan Shao. Holding the Huainan region, he proclaimed himself emperor of a state called Zhong in 197, which made him an outcast among the other warlords. Defeated by Lü Bu and Cao Cao, he tried to join Yuan Shao in the north in 199 but was blocked and died.
