Huai River
The Huai River flows east across central China between the Yellow River and the Yangtze, and is often treated as the line between northern and southern China. Its plain was home to many small Zhou-era states, later absorbed by Chu. In later wars it formed a key frontier, and its course was long disrupted by Yellow River floods.
