Yellow River

The Yellow River is the second-longest river in China, flowing from the Tibetan plateau across the north China plain to the Bohai Sea. It is considered the cradle of Chinese civilisation but is notorious for devastating floods and changes of course. Accounts of the Gokturk Empire note that Qapaghan Qaghan crossed it repeatedly in raids on Tang China, and its floods of 1344 contributed to the decline of the Yuan Dynasty.
