reigned 636–c. 686 · 7th century · Also known as Yuknoom the Great

Yuknoom Ch'een II, also called Yuknoom the Great, was the most powerful king of the Kaan, or snake-head, dynasty at Calakmul, ruling from 636 to about 686. He fought Tikal, controlled the rulers of cities such as Dos Pilas, Cancuen and Naranjo, and made Calakmul the leading power of the Classic Maya lowlands.
