Quintana Roo

Quintana Roo is a state of Mexico on the eastern side of the Yucatán Peninsula, along the Caribbean coast. It holds Maya sites such as Tulum, Cobá and Dzibanche, and was long a stronghold of rebel Maya during the Caste War. Made a federal territory in 1902, it became a state in 1974 and is now a centre of tourism around Cancún.
