Quinquereme
A quinquereme was a large ancient warship powered by oarsmen arranged in groups of five per vertical unit. It was the standard battleship of the Hellenistic and Punic navies. The Punic Empire's quinqueremes, adopted from Greek design, were central to its control of the western Mediterranean and prompted Rome to build its own fleets.
