Yuri II Boleslav

c. 1308–1340 · 14th century · Also known as Bolesław-Jerzy II

Yuri II Boleslav was the last ruler of the Kingdom of Galicia–Volhynia, from 1323 until his death in 1340. Born Bolesław, a Masovian Piast prince whose mother was a daughter of Yuri I, he converted to Orthodoxy on taking the throne. His reliance on foreign advisers angered the boyars, who poisoned him, and Poland and Lithuania then divided his realm.
