Eastern Europe
Eastern Europe is the eastern part of the European continent, including the plains between the Baltic, the Black Sea and the Urals. The Khazar Khaganate dominated much of its south-eastern steppe and trade routes, while the Mongol Empire conquered the Rus' principalities and raided deep into the region in the thirteenth century.
