ZANU-PF

Also known as Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front

ZANU-PF, the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front, is the ruling party of Zimbabwe. It grew out of ZANU, founded in 1963, which fought the guerrilla war against Rhodesia under Robert Mugabe, won the independence election of 1980 and absorbed Joshua Nkomo's ZAPU in 1987. It has held power ever since, led by Emmerson Mnangagwa after Mugabe's removal in 2017.
