Malpur State

1466 CE – 1948 CE (approx.) · capital Malpur

A small Rajput princely state in north-eastern Gujarat, one of the minor states of the Mahi Kantha Agency.

Origins

Tradition dates the ruling family's settlement at Malpur to 1466, but little is reliably known of its origins.

Rule and society

Malpur was a small agricultural state in the hills of the Mahi Kantha. It paid tribute to Baroda State and was supervised by the British through the Mahi Kantha Agency. Its history is poorly recorded.

Decline and legacy

Malpur merged into Bombay State in 1948 and is now in Aravalli district, Gujarat.

Few sources survive for this state; details are uncertain.
