Sardargadh State

1700 CE – 1948 CE (approx.) · capital Sardargadh

A minor chiefship of southern Kathiawar, one of the small estates under British supervision.

Origins

Sardargadh was a small estate in the Sorath region of Kathiawar, held by a local chiefly family from around 1700. Its founding is poorly documented.

Rule and society

The ruler held a few villages and paid tribute to Junagadh, coming under British supervision after 1807 in the Kathiawar Agency. Standard references record little else.

Decline and legacy

Sardargadh merged into the United State of Saurashtra in 1948 and became part of Gujarat in 1960.

Few sources survive for this state; details are uncertain.
