1st Proletarian Brigade
The 1st Proletarian Brigade was the first regular brigade of the Yugoslav Partisans, formed on 21 December 1941 at Rudo in eastern Bosnia from units that had retreated from the Republic of Užice. Its formation marked the shift from local guerrilla detachments to a mobile army. It fought through the war in Bosnia, Montenegro and Serbia and took part in the liberation of Belgrade in 1944.
