Abu Bakr ibn Sa'd

r. 1226–1260 · 13th century

Abu Bakr ibn Sa'd was atabeg of Fars of the Salghurid dynasty from 1226 to 1260. By submitting to the Mongol Great Khan Ögedei and paying tribute, he saved Fars and Shiraz from destruction. The poet Saadi, whose pen name honoured the Salghurids, dedicated the Bustan (1257) and the Gulistan (1258) to the dynasty during his reign.
