Age of Liberty
The Age of Liberty was the period in Swedish history from 1718 to 1772 when royal power was sharply limited and Parliament (the Riksdag) dominated government. It followed the death of Charles XII and the end of Sweden's great-power era. It ended when Gustav III restored stronger royal authority in a coup in 1772.
