Agent Orange

1962–1971 · 20th century

Agent Orange was a herbicide sprayed by the United States military over forests and crops in South Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia during the Vietnam War, mainly between 1962 and 1971. It was contaminated with the toxic dioxin TCDD, which has been linked to cancers, birth defects and other illnesses among Vietnamese civilians and veterans. Clean-up of contaminated former air bases continued into the 2020s.
