Alan I, King of Brittany
Alan I, called the Great, was count of Vannes and from about 890 king of Brittany. He led the Bretons to a victory over the Vikings at Questembert in 888 and reunited the country after a period of division. He was the last Breton ruler to bear the title of king; after his death the Vikings overran Brittany.
