Amyrtaeus was an Egyptian ruler from Sais and the only king of the Twenty-eighth Dynasty. On the death of Darius II in 404 BCE he led a revolt that ended the first period of Persian rule in Egypt, and by about 400 BCE he was recognised throughout the country. He was overthrown in 399 BCE by Nepherites I, founder of the Twenty-ninth Dynasty.
