Anah
Anah is a town on the Euphrates in western Iraq, known in ancient sources as Anat. In the early 1st millennium BCE it was the centre of the land of Suhu, whose governors ruled from an island in the river. It remained a river town under later empires, and in the 1980s the old town was flooded by the reservoir of the Haditha Dam and its people moved to a new town nearby.
