Aramaeans
The Aramaeans were a Semitic-speaking people of ancient Syria and Mesopotamia who formed numerous small states in the early first millennium BCE. Many settled in Babylonia, where they mixed with Chaldean and Babylonian populations. Their language, Aramaic, spread widely and became a common language of the Neo-Babylonian or Chaldean Empire.
