Annaberg-Buchholz

Annaberg-Buchholz is a town in the Ore Mountains of Saxony, Germany. Annaberg was founded in 1496 after rich silver strikes and quickly became one of the largest towns in Saxony; its late Gothic hall church of St Anne is among the finest in the region, and the arithmetic teacher Adam Ries lived there. It merged with the neighbouring town of Buchholz in 1945.
