Antipope Anacletus II
Anacletus II, born Pietro Pierleoni, was an antipope from 1130 to 1138. Elected by a majority of the cardinals in a disputed election against Innocent II, he held Rome but was rejected by most of Europe, led by Bernard of Clairvaux. In return for his support he granted Roger II a royal title in 1130, founding the Kingdom of Sicily.
