Calabria
Calabria is a region of southern Italy forming the 'toe' of the Italian peninsula, with Catanzaro as its capital. In antiquity its coasts held Greek colonies such as Rhegion, Croton and Locri. It was later held by the Byzantines, conquered by the Normans in the 11th century and formed part of the Kingdom of Sicily and then of Naples.
