Ariarathes II of Cappadocia

Ariarathes II was the adopted son of the satrap Ariarathes I, who restored his family's rule in Cappadocia after his father's execution in 322 BCE. Around 301 BCE, with Armenian help, he drove out the Macedonian governor and re-established an independent principality in the region. His heirs later took the title king.
