Mount Erciyes

Also known as Mount Argaeus, Erciyes Dağı

Mount Erciyes, the ancient Mount Argaeus, is a dormant volcano south of Kayseri in central Anatolia, Turkey, and at 3,917 metres the highest mountain in the region. The kings of Cappadocia ruled from Mazaca at its foot, and the mountain appeared on the city's coins. Its eruptions helped form the volcanic landscape of Cappadocia.
