Asin of Baekje

r. 392–405 · 4th century · Also known as King Asin

Asin was the seventeenth king of Baekje, reigning from 392 to 405. Early in his reign Goguryeo under Gwanggaeto the Great captured many Baekje fortresses, and in 396 Asin was forced to submit, as recorded on Gwanggaeto's stele. He then sought support from the Wa of Japan, sending his son Jeonji there as a hostage in 397, a step that strengthened the Baekje–Yamato alliance.
