Asomtavruli

Also known as Mrgvlovani

Asomtavruli is the oldest form of the Georgian alphabet, written with rounded letters. Its earliest dated inscriptions, from the Bolnisi Sioni church and the Georgian monastery at Bir el Qutt near Bethlehem, belong to the fifth century. It was later supplemented by the Nuskhuri and Mkhedruli scripts and is still used for capitals and headings in church texts.
