Armenia
Armenia is a highland region of the southern Caucasus and eastern Anatolia. For centuries it was a contested buffer between rival empires, including the Seleucids, Romans and Sasanians, and later the Ottomans and Iranian dynasties. Its control was disputed during the decline of the Seleucid, Sasanian and Afsharid empires.
