Attigny
Attigny is a small town on the Aisne in the Ardennes department of north-eastern France. It was a Merovingian and Carolingian royal palace where Frankish kings held assemblies. In 785 the Saxon leader Widukind was baptised there with Charlemagne as his godfather, and in 822 Louis the Pious did public penance there.
