Aznar Galíndez I
Aznar Galíndez I was the first known count of Aragon, ruling the small county around Jaca in the central Pyrenees in the early 9th century under Frankish protection. Around 820 he was driven out by his son-in-law García the Bad, who was allied with the rulers of Pamplona, and the Carolingians gave him the counties of Urgell and Cerdanya instead. His son Galindo later recovered Aragon.
