Person
Bagoas
Bagoas was a powerful eunuch official at the Achaemenid court in the fourth century BCE. He is said to have poisoned Artaxerxes III in 338 BCE and his successor Arses, before placing Darius III on the throne. Darius later forced Bagoas to drink poison, and the palace intrigues weakened the Achaemenid Empire shortly before Alexander's invasion.
