Balıkesir
Balıkesir is a city in north-western Turkey, in the historic region of Mysia south of the Sea of Marmara. Around 1300 it became the seat of the Karasid (Karesi) beylik, which the Ottomans absorbed in the mid-14th century, gaining the troops and coastland that carried them into Europe. It is now the capital of Balıkesir Province.
