Beylik

Also known as beyliks

A beylik was a Turkic principality ruled by a bey, especially one of the small states that emerged in Anatolia after the collapse of Seljuk authority in the thirteenth century. One of these, the beylik of Osman I in the Bithynian borderlands near Bursa, lay on the frontier with Byzantium. It grew into the Ottoman Empire.
