Banabhatta

7th century · 7th century · Also known as Bana

Banabhatta was a 7th-century Sanskrit prose writer at the court of Harsha, king of Thanesar and Kannauj. His Harshacharita, a partly historical life of his patron, and his unfinished romance Kadambari, completed by his son, are classics of ornate Sanskrit prose. The Harshacharita is a main source for the rise of the Pushyabhuti dynasty and the wars that brought Harsha to power.
