Battle of Boju

506 BCE · 6th century BCE

The Battle of Boju was fought in 506 BCE in modern Hubei, when King Helü of Wu, advised by the Chu exile Wu Zixu and traditionally by Sun Wu, invaded Chu and defeated its main army. Wu forces then took the Chu capital Ying, and King Zhao of Chu fled. Chu survived only after Qin sent an army in response to the pleas of the minister Shen Baoxu.
