Hubei
Hubei is a province of central China on the middle Yangtze, with its capital at Wuhan. In antiquity it was the heartland of the State of Chu, whose capital Ying lay near Jingzhou, and it has yielded many Chu tombs and bamboo texts. The Wuchang Uprising there in 1911 began the revolution that ended the Qing dynasty, and the Three Gorges Dam lies in its west.
