Hunan
Hunan is a province of south-central China, lying mostly south of Lake Dongting along the Xiang river, with its capital at Changsha. In the Warring States period it formed part of the state of Chu, and in the 10th century it was the seat of the independent kingdom of Ma Chu. Its rice fields made it a granary of later China, and it was the home province of Mao Zedong.
